LED A-line lamp shipments surged 375.9% year-over-year during the first quarter of 2016. The technology is rapidly claiming ground in market share, accounting for more than a quarter of the consumer lamp market for the first time (26.1%) and gained over nine percentage points in the quarter, according to the latest report from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). Halogen A-line lamps posted a year-over-year increase of 7.4 percent and still retain the bulk of the market at a 46.5% share. Incandescent A-line lamps decreased by 14.2 percent. Compact fluorescents lamps (CFL) dropped 49.0 percent and held onto a 19.2% share. Compared to 2015Q4, LED shipments rose 38.5 percent, while halogen A-lines decreased 13.3 percent. CFL shipments saw a quarter-to-quarter decrease of 24.3 percent and incandescent A-line lamp shipments decreased 21.3 percent.
