The industrial market continues its sluggish path, with controls and adjustable-speed drives showing double-digit declines from the same period last year. NEMA’s Primary Industrial Controls index showed a 1.7 percent decrease in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the previous quarter. The index was down 10.5 percent compared to the same period a year ago. A broader measure of shipments, NEMA’s Primary Industrial Controls and Adjustable Speed Drives Index, posted a 2.7 percent decrease in the first quarter compared to the last quarter and a 15 percent decrease from the same period in 2015.
