Dec. 21, 2012
Electrical product prices remained on their flat trend, showing no change from October and little change in almost all major product categories.

Prices remained on their flat trend, showing no change from October and little change in almost all major product categories. In total, the EPI was down 0.3% YTY. Power wire and cable was the only product category bucking the trend with a 1.6% drop; it was up 3.2% YTY. The only other product category showing change of at least one percent was air conditioners, with a 1.4% increase.

Note: All EPI series represent Global Insight aggregates of Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) producer price indices (PPIs). The revised data partly reflect redefinitions of specific PPIs by the BLS, but mostly reflect the rebenchmarking of all EPI price series to a 1997 base year. The four following EPI series have been affected by BLS redefinitions: boxes, conduit (fittings), nonmetallic conduit, and generators. Sources: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics; Global Insight
