Joel Spira, founder and chairman of Lutron Electronics Co. Inc., Coopersburg, Pa., has been awarded an honorary doctor of engineering degree from Purdue University. The degree was awarded at Purdue’s May 17 commencement exercises at its West Lafayette, Indiana campus. A 1948 graduate of Purdue University, Spira earned a bachelor’s degree in physics, as well as honorary doctorate degrees from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., and Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa.
