A recent Los Angeles Times article said Californians are applying for permits to install rooftop PV systems in record numbers. According to the California Public Utilities Commission, residents filed 1,215 applications seeking solar subsidies in December 2008, the most in the program’s 24-month history. The article said more than 18,000 California homeowners and businesses have applied for rebates over the last two years. A record 133 megawatts of solar photovoltaics have been installed in California so far this year.
