Children’s Hospital received a $90,000 donation from Nu-Lite Electrical Wholesalers, New Orleans, as part of the company’s Energizing New Orleans hurricane recovery program.
The gift will be used to purchase equipment and supplies for the hospital’s Kids First satellite clinics, which provide primary care to children in underserved
neighborhoods.
Nu-Lite teamed-up with several of its manufacturers to create the recovery program, which is aimed at generating donations to help New Orleans’ local charities and institutions. Nu-Lite co-owner Gary Corrales presented the donation at the hospital.
“Children’s Hospital does so much for a lot of people in our community,” Corrales said. “It’s always been a stalwart for New Orleans, and we wanted to help give back to the city after this hurricane. Children’s Hospital certainly was one of the first names that we thought of. We wanted the money to go to where it could be used best.”
Three of Children’s Hospital’s Kids First satellite clinics were severely damaged by flooding and a fourth was heavily damaged by wind and rain in the hurricanes.
“Nu-Lite approached me about raising money to help Children’s Hospital recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and we are in need of their support,” Roger Gorman, Childrens’ Hospital’s development director, said. “We hope others will join Nu-Lite in their effort to help our hospital provide care for the children of south Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
Manufacturers supporting Nu-Lite’s Energizing New Orleans campaign included Square D, Encore Wire, Philips Lighting, Lithonia Lighting, Western Tube, Leviton Manufacturing, IDEAL Industries, EGS/Appleton, FCI Burndy, Ferraz Shawmut, Lutron, Advance Transformer and Bridgeport Fittings.
