The Royal brand has for years been one of the better-known names in the wire and cable industry. It came to the Essex stable of products in 1996 as part of its acquisition of Triangle Wire and Cable. Triangle acquired Royal Electric, then based in Pawtucket, R.I., from the Laribee Wire group of companies in 1991 when Laribee went Chapter 11.
