Expanding its offering in the power quality segment of the test equipment market, Fluke Corp., Everett, Wash., has acquired LEM Instruments, a division of LEM Group.
With headquarters outside Liverpool, U.K., LEM Instruments manufactures test and measurement equipment including analyzers and systems for power quality applications, earth/ground testers, insulation testers, low-resistance ohmmeters, clamp meters and clamp-on power meters. LEM Instruments also supplies high precision current probes to the automotive market.
The acquisition expands Fluke’s product offering by giving it access to products such as power quality data loggers and other tools, as well as earth-ground testers.
“The acquisition of LEM Instruments is a tremendous complement to our growing electrical business,” said Jim Lico, president, Fluke Corp. “They have a strong power quality product offering in the European industrial and utility segments. Coupled with the recent introduction of the Fluke 430 Series Power Quality Analyzers, the addition of LEM Instruments gives Fluke a comprehensive product line backed by strong, global sales channels.”
Fluke Networks has bought several large companies in recent years. In 2002, Fluke expanded in metering equipment for the three-phase segment of the power quality market when it bought Reliable Power Meters, Los Gatos, Calif. In 2001, Fluke Networks bought Fotec Inc., Medford, Mass., a provider of fiber-optic test equipment and structured cabling education, and Microtest Inc., Phoenix, an independent test equipment manufacturer.
