Greenlee, a Textron company based in Rockford, Ill., formed a joint venture with Rothenberger AG, a privately held German-based manufacturer of plumbing and pipe tools.

The venture is aimed at further expanding the companies’ combined service and product offerings in the U.S. and Canadian professional plumbing products and pipe tools segments. Terms of the joint venture, which will sell products under the Rothenberger brand name and be headquartered in Rockford, Ill., were not disclosed.

The new joint venture, Rothenberger LLC, will have exclusive rights to market the Rothenberger brand in the United States and Canada. “This joint venture was a natural match,” said Scott Hall, president of Greenlee. “Rothenberger, with its global product offering, truly complements Greenlee’s strong North American customer base in the electrical and plumbing tool segments.”

“Rothenberger will offer a complete range of high-quality plumbing and pipe tools to the professional plumber. The plumbing industry now has a premium option,” adds Dr. Helmut Rothenberger, president of Rothenberger AG.

Rothenberger has more than $300 million in sales and 1,200 employees in 40 subsidiaries worldwide. Rothenberger offers a line of plumbing and pipe tools sold under a variety of brand names including Rothenberger and Super Ego.
