Hubbell Lighting Inc., Spartanburg, S.C., has selected Greenville, S.C., as the site for its new headquarters.

Hubbell Lighting plans to invest over $25 million in this new facility, projected to be complete in late 2006. The facility is likely to be built at the Millennium Campus in the City of Greenville, 18 acres adjacent to the International Center for Automotive Research. This will be the future home for Hubbell Lighting’s 235 current headquarters’ employees.

In addition, the facility will house a product demonstration showroom and international training center. There will also be a product research/development center with photometric and UL-certified testing laboratories.

Hubbell Lighting is presently based in Spartanburg S.C., near Greenville, and is a subsidiary of Hubbell Inc., based in Orange, Conn. Hubbell Lighting has more than 4,500 employees in North America, with manufacturing facilities in nine U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada, as well as operations in China. The Southeast region distribution center, located in Spartanburg, S.C., will continue to operate in its present location.

Hubbell Lighting conducted a comprehensive review of specific sites in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina to determine the best location option to meet its future needs. Greenville was selected over all other locations in a competitive selection process.

Scott Muse, group vice president of Hubbell Lighting, said, “The Greenville headquarters location was selected for several reasons including its close proximity to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport and the site’s clear visibility from Interstate 85, which provides excellent marketing exposure.”
