T&B to Buy Danaher Businesses And Hazardous Location Equipment Maker

Thomas & Betts Corp. (T&B), Memphis, Tenn., agreed to acquire the Joslyn Hi-Voltage and Power Solutions businesses from Danaher Corp. for $280 million. In a separate transaction, T&B agreed to acquire Drilling Technical Supply SA (DTS), a privately held French manufacturer of hazardous lighting and electrical controls, for approximately $20 million.

Dominic J. Pileggi, T&B’s chairman and chief executive officer, said Joslyn Hi-Voltage products complements the company’s portfolio of high-voltage connectors and related products used primarily by utilities for the distribution of electrical power. The brands from Danaher Power Solutions extends T&B’s reach into the power quality and protection markets. The acquisition of DTS expands T&B’s footprint in critical hazardous and emergency lighting applications. ”

Joslyn Hi-Voltage offers high-voltage electric switches, reclosers, vacuum interrupter attachments and related products used mainly by electric utilities. Power Solutions offers products and services designed to ensure a high quality, reliable flow of power to commercial and industrial customers for mission critical applications such as datacenters. DTS offers explosion-proof lighting and electrical protection equipment for industrial markets.
