Toshiba Targets Solar
Toshiba Corp. sees a big opportunity in the photovoltaics market and on Jan. 5 announced that its Transmission Distribution & Industrial Systems Co. will go after large, megawatt-scale projects for utility and industrial plants. The company says in 2015 the global solar photovoltaic systems market for utility and industrial plants is expected to reach approximately $24.4 billon from approximately $13.3 billion in 2008, and that its PV business will reach $2.2 billion in sales by that time.
