Schneider Electric, Palatine, Ill., made a strategic addition to its data center management software offerings this week with a deal to buy the Viridity EnergyCenter 2.0 platform. The software and its support team will be integrated into Schneider's StruxureWare unit. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Viridity's data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software provides a cross-functional solution for understanding the connection between physical infrastructure, IT equipment and the applications that run on them, Schneider said in a release. This news does not involve Viridity Energy, a smart-grid company unrelated to the data-center software provider.
