Cree shares surge 19% on earnings report

Despite its position as one of the largest manufacturers of LEDs and LED lighting fixtures, Cree Inc., Durham, N.C., hasn’t been able to get a ton of consistently positive momentum going for the price of its shares — until this week when it beat analysts estimates for its fiscal second quarter and they enjoyed a hefty 19% increase to more than $39 per share.
