Electrical People: Schulz named WESCO CFO

Also new appointments and promotions at LSI Industries, Hubbell Lighting, Lighting Science, Ideal Electrical Supply, and GE Energy Connections

WESCO International Inc. (Pittsburgh): The company has appointed David S. (Dave) Schulz as its senior vice president and chief financial officer. Schulz, 51, brings 20 years of public company experience in finance and operations management to WESCO.  After 15 years in financial leadership roles with Procter & Gamble and the J. M. Smucker Co., he joined Armstrong World Industries in 2011 as vice president - finance of the Armstrong Building Products division.  He was named senior vice president and CFO in 2013.  Most recently, Schulz was senior vice president and COO of Armstrong Flooring, overseeing Asia Pacific sales and operations, investor relations, and strategic matters, including mergers and acquisitions.

Schulz began his career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Villanova University and a master’s degree in management from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School.

GE Energy Connections (Atlanta): Eddie Martin was appointed chief commercial officer for Industrial Solutions, holding global responsibility for sales and marketing across the Industrial Solutions portfolio.

With 24 years of experience, Martin joins the GE Energy Connections team from GE Oil & Gas where he most recently served as global channels leader. Prior to this role, he served as the chief commercial officer for GE Oil & Gas’ Measurement and Controls. During his career with GE, Martin has held commercial leadership roles of increasing responsibility including chief marketing officer and general manager of commercial operations for the former GE Intelligent Platforms business and chief marketing officer for GE Appliances. Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in managerial economics with a minor in mathematics from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.

Ideal Electrical Supply (Washington, D.C.):  Kwame Bonsu has been hired as the company’s new director of business development – Federal and Facilities Management. Bonsu will lead Ideal’s expansion into both the federal and facilities management markets, drawing on over 30 years of diversified experience in the chemical, lighting, energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. Bonsu, who was most recently manager of business development for Atlantic Electric Supply, joins Ideal after holding various positions at Osram Sylvania as product development engineer, account rep and government sales manager. Prior to joining Sylvania Bonsu was a process engineer with Monsanto Co.

Lighting Science (West Warwick, R.I.): Jon Brody is now senior director of retail sales. Brody comes to Lighting Science following senior positions at consumer electronics leaders Binatone (a licensee of Motorola) and Jawbone. In his new role, Brody will assume responsibility for expanding the company’s retail channels nationwide. “We’re excited to bring on a high-caliber retail leader like Jon Brody to help Lighting Science find new markets for our truly differentiated consumer products, such as our HealthE lighting series and the recently released Durabulb.” said Ed Bednarcik, Lighting Science’s CEO.

Hubbell Lighting (Greenville, S.C.): Rebecca McCall has been appointed vice chair the Luminaire Section of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). She is director, education and training for Hubbell Lighting’s Learning Solutions Center (LSC).

NEMA’s Lighting Systems Division provides the organizational framework for manufacturers of lighting equipment to work together on projects that impact their industry and their businesses. One of the major outcomes of this cooperative effort is the establishment of technical standards and codes.

LSI Industries Inc. (Cincinnati):  Steven Lowe is now V.P. of product management for the LSI Lighting Solutions division. His responsibilities include product development, product marketing, brand management and corporate sponsorships. Lowe was previously marketing manager, senior value stream manager and marketing director at Eaton/Cooper Lighting, Acuity Brands and Atlanta Fixture & Sales Co., respectively.

While at Acuity he managed a product portfolio of over $200 million within 26 unique product families, development, supply chain and logistics initiatives. He has a BA in marketing from Auburn University and is working on his MBA from the University of West Georgia.
