German publications are reporting that Jes Munk Hansen has stepped down as chief executive officer of the lighting manufacturer less than a month after the company announced significant layoffs and plant closings in a move to adapt to the changing future of lighting technology.
In a post on the website B4B Wirtschaftsleben Schwaben, a local reporter said Hansen recently spoke in Augsburg to employees of one of the closing plants, then reported that the company has parted ways with Hansen. The story said the company wants a CEO who will be permanently based in Garching, the city outside Munich where Ledvance is headquartered. Hansen has been based in Wilmington, MA.
As translated by Google, here’s a quote from that story attributed to Bernd Minning, chairman of Ledvance’s supervisory board. “On behalf of the Supervisory Board, I would like to sincerely thank Jes Munk Hansen for his leadership during this formative period in our corporate history. As CEO Jes Munk Hansen has driven the development of the new corporate strategy and the reorganization of the company. With Hansen as CEO, the carve-out of the company was completed by the German light conglomerate Osram AG, Ledvance was established as an independent company and sold to a Chinese consortium. With this new structure and the new business model, Ledvance will be able to further expand its position as the world leader in the lighting industry.”
Until a successor is named the company will be led by its current chief transformation officer (CTO), Rüdiger Tibbe.
