The executive team of The Home Depot’s professional-supplies division will be based in Orlando once Home Depot completes the acquisition of Hughes Supply Inc. this month.

Senior leaders of The Home Depot Supply, including Joe DeAngelo, the division’s executive vice president, will operate out of Hughes’ current Orlando headquarters after the deal is complete, according to Home Depot spokeswoman Paula Smith. DeAngelo will maintain offices both in Atlanta and Orlando, she said.

"At this point, the only decision that has been made is that the senior functional leaders, including the chief financial officer, vice president of marketing/communications, chief information officer, etc., will be based in Orlando. No decision has been made beyond that, so we cannot accurately say that all associates are also moving that report up through those functional leaders. Such decisions are currently being evaluated and will be made after the transaction closes."

Home Depot announced in January that it was buying Hughes Supply.

Hughes shareholders will vote on the acquisition March 30 at the company’s headquarters. A majority must approve the deal.

Hughes Supply will be part of The Home Depot Supply, a division that has built an impressive position in a range of markets serving business-to-business customers such as home builders, professional contractors, municipalities and maintenance professionals.

The purchase of Hughes Supply more than doubles the size of The Home Depot Supply, and projected 2006 combined sales would approach $12 billion.
