Electrical People: Masino named Gardner Bender division president

New VPs of product management and business development at Graybar; new Northeast region manager for Border States; new OEM regional sales manager for Universal Lighting and more!

Gardner Bender (Menomonee Falls, Wis.): Mike Masino has been named Division president – Gardner Bender, a division of Power Products, LLC. He will report to David Scheer, CEO of Power Products. Masino brings over 12 years of experience with the Gardner Bender brand, having served from 1997-2009, most recently as V.P. During his time at Gardner Bender, he has been instrumental in developing a customer-focused sales organization which dramatically expanded the company’s retail and commercial sales channels.

Masino has spent the last 4.5 years as executive V.P. at Technical Consumer Products, Inc. (TCP), a manufacturer of energy-efficient lamps and fixtures where he managed North American Operations and was responsible for retail, commercial, industrial and OEM channels. He began his electrical career as a sales representative with WESCO in Chicago and also worked at sales and management positions with Crescent Electric Supply and Molex. He joins other current division presidents in the Power Products portfolio; Chris McClain – Acme Electric, G.R. Schrotenboer – Global Marine/Industrial, Rich Louis – Turner Electric and George Dowse – Del City.

Graybar Electric Co. (St. Louis): Jeff Netherton is now V.P., product management and Garry Acker has been appointed V.P. business development, effective July 1. Netherton currently serves as director, corporate real estate, a position he has held since 2010. Since joining Graybar 22 years ago, he has advanced through a diverse series of roles, including branch management, strategic planning, strategic accounts and field operations. He has a BA in business adminstration from Missouri State University and a MBA from Washington University. In his new position he will be responsible for collaborating with Graybar’s suppliers to drive profitable growth.

Acker currently serves as V.P., product management, a position he has held since 2012. He joined Graybar in 1980 and has successfully worked in sales, marketing, branch management and strategic accounts. In his new post he will focus on strategically growing Graybar’s business with one of the company’s largest suppliers, Schneider Electric.

Metro Wire and Cable (Iowa City, Iowa):  Alysse Koch, a new sales consultant, comes to Metro Wire and Cable from the Kansas City area, where she held several marketing and sales roles for Cumulus Media and Centriq Training.  Koch graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in business management and will be charged with working with electrical contractors, fire and security companies, utilities, OEMs and other customer bases in the greater Midwest.

Border States Electric (BSE)(Fargo, N.D.): Shane Kerska has been promoted to Northeast Region manager. He will have sales and profit responsibility for branches in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa. Kerska started his career with Border States in 1993 as a driver in Sioux Falls, S.D., and held positions as city desk representative, customer service representative, account manager and branch manager before moving to Brooklyn Park, Minn., in 2011 to become the Northeast Region sales manager for BSE’s Construction and Industrial business unit.

Universal Lighting Technologies (Nashville, Tenn.): David Mendes has joined the Universal team as the new OEM regional sales manager for the Northeast region of the United States. Mendes joins Universal with over 14 years of electrical industry experience including distribution and lighting services. Since graduating from Long Island University in 2007 with a degree in business management and marketing, he has worked on several national accounts, selling lighting products and services in various industries including petroleum, retail and facility management.

Previously, Mendes worked as a senior sales representative, where he was honored with six different sales awards including 2013 sales representative of the year.  Additionally, he has garnered experience developing investment-grade turnkey solutions for clients to encompass interior, exterior, new fixture, retrofit and lighting controls. Mendes also worked with local and national utilities to maximize return on investment for clients.

National Electric Supply (NES) (Albuquerque, N.M.):  Scott Lunsford joined the company to further develop its  growing portfolio of regional and national accounts within the oil and gas markets. Lunsford brings a wealth of experience within the electrical industry, having spent the last 13 years as a manager and business owner serving the residential, commercial, oil, drilling and agricultural markets. As the Southeast Region sales rep, Lunsford will focus on expanding the oil and gas markets by providing effective product solutions and material management of National Electric’s world class lines. National Electric Supply has served markets in New Mexico and Colorado and delivered electrical products that span the commercial, industrial, utility and residential segments since 1976.
