With its broad portfolio of distribution software packages, Activant Solutions, Livermore, Calif., is wired into at least 59 of the largest electrical wholesalers in the United States, according to research conducted by Electrical Wholesaling magazine for its annual Top 200 listing. The Top 200 listing hit the streets this week in EW’s June issue.
Activant Eclipse was the most popular distribution software package for Top 200 survey respondents with 41 specific mentions; Prophet 21 had 11 mentions and Array was mentioned once. An Activant ad in EW’s June issue says 110 of the distributors in this year’s listing are Activant customers.
Software developed by Infor, Alpharetta, Ga., was also a popular pick for Top 200 electrical distributors with 26 mentions. At least 14 distributors on the listing use Infor’s SXE package and two use the company’s SHIMs software.
SAP has five companies on this year’s Top 200 listing; Oracle/J.D. Edwards had one; and six distributors said they had a custom software package. Other software packages mentioned came from the following firms: Butler Curless, DMS Software Services, Harvest Software Solutions, P+W Software, Rubicon Software Group and Vormittag Associates.
Top 200 distributors also appear to be big supporters of IDEA, Rosslyn, Va., and users of data in its Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) and its Industry Data Exchange (IDX) service. At least 85 of the 130-plus survey respondents are IDEA members.
