NEMA commends President’s plan for a 21st century electrical grid

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) commended President Obama’s commitment to the development of a twenty-first century electrical grid as outlined in A Policy Framework for the 21st Century Grid: Enabling Our Secure Energy Future, a report issued by the Executive Office of the President, National Science and Technology Council.

An event at the White House last week brought together key industry stakeholders and government officials to discuss the opportunities and challenges of modernizing America’s electrical infrastructure, and to advance the national dialogue on the grid’s importance to job creation, energy security, and American competitiveness.

“The equipment and technology being developed and deployed by NEMA member companies throughout the electrical grid is integral to the success of this plan,” said NEMA President and CEO Evan Gaddis, who attended the event. “Combined with the efforts of the White House, Congress, state regulators, utilities, and federal agencies, these products will provide Americans with a modern, efficient, reliable, and secure electricity delivery system that will benefit consumers and businesses.”
