Eaton Corp., Cleveland, said its contract to provide project management services and electrical distribution equipment for Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 (T5) Expansion Project is worth an estimated $14 million.
Eaton announced in its third quarter earnings news release on Oct. 14, 2003, that it was awarded the contract. Specifically, Eaton’s electrical business will provide low-voltage switchgear, busbar trunking, capacitors and loose gear, as well as engineering and start-up support for the Heathrow expansion. The T5 expansion is one of the largest construction projects in Europe with an estimated value in the region of $7 billion.
Heathrow’s existing four terminals currently manage 63 million passengers per year and Terminal 5 will increase this capacity by an additional 30 million passengers. Construction, including the main terminal building, satellite terminal building, control tower and railway station, is scheduled for completion in March 2008.
