Electrical Marketing's Electrical Price Index for August posted an increase of 0.4% over July and is up 2.8% over August 2009. Product categories that increased by more than one percent from July to August were building wire (+1.8%) and residential lighting (+1.1%). Power cable showed the biggest increase year-over-year at 17.5%, followed by building wire at 8.7%.
Note: All EPI series represent Global Insight aggregates of Bureau of Labor Statistics' (BLS) producer price indices (PPIs). The revised data partly reflect redefinitions of specific PPIs by the BLS, but mostly reflect the rebenchmarking of all EPI price series to a 1997 base year.
