Cape Electrical Supply Expands in Kentucky with Purchase of Cumberland Electric Supply
Cape Electrical Supply, Cape Girardeau, Mo., has acquired Cumberland Electric Supply, Somerset, Ky., to broaden its market presence in that state. Cape Electrical Supply’s branch network now stretches across the southern tier of Kentucky from Paducah in the west, Bowling Green in the central part of the state, and now eastward to Somerset.
Cumberland serves a wide range of customers in the surrounding market area and has been in business since 1962. Marty Mize will continue in his role as Cumberland Electric’s general manager, and Glen Wheeler will remain sales manager. Cumberland becomes the 22nd location for Cape Electric and the company’s sixth store in Kentucky.
Cape Electrical Supply has added more than a dozen locations during the past decade to increase its presence along the Mississippi River corridor. In 2009, the company made three acquisitions: Beck Electric Co., Kennett, Mo.; and two utility specialists — Delmo Electric, Fisk, Mo.; and Electrical Sales Engineering (ESE), Bowling Green, Ky. Cape Electric Supply was ranked No. 78 on Electrical Wholesaling’s most recent Top 200 ranking and is a member of the Affiliated Distributors buying/marketing group.
Electrical Wholesaling magazine published a March 2008 article on Cape Electrical Supply’s niche in providing training, products and related services to help its industrial customers comply with the National Electrical Code regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards regarding arc-flash protection.
