Johnstone Supply Inc., Portland, Ore., a distributor of HVAC, electrical and industrial supplies with over 300 independently owned stores nationwide, has announced plans for a major new parts distribution center in Las Vegas. A lease has been approved and construction on the new facility is currently underway. The new facility is anticipated to begin receiving inventory in January of 2008 and will be fully operational by May 2008.
The new 130,000 square foot facility will be the first in the Southwest for Johnstone Supply, joining existing major distribution centers in Portland, Oregon; Memphis, Tennessee; Allentown, Pennsylvania; and the newest in Jacksonville, Florida. The Las Vegas facility will service 52 Johnstone Supply stores, offering next-day delivery .
The cooperative plans to begin shipping operations from the new facility in March 2008 and phase in deliveries on a state-by-state basis over a two month period starting with Nevada, followed by California, Arizona, New Mexico, and western Colorado. The Southwest distribution center marks the fifth regional facility in Johnstone Supply’s strategic distribution model.
