Cooper Industries Forms China Joint Venture

Cooper Industries Ltd., Houston, said it has formed a joint venture with Shanghai Power Transmission & Distribution Co. to produce power equipment for the China market.Financial terms of the deal were not announced.

Cooper (China) Co., a newly formed holding company, will own the majority of the equity in the joint venture, to be called Cooper Shanghai Power Capacitor Co. The venture will produce capacitors developed by Cooper’s power systems unit in a manufacturing plant to be built in the Shanghai area, Cooper said.
