The Genlyte Group Inc., Louisville, Ky., plans to move its Gardco division from San Leandro, Calif., to a new facility in San Marcos, Texas. San Marcos is located about 30 miles south of Austin.
The facility in Texas is scheduled for completion in the third quarter. Gardco will move its manufacturing operation in phases, following completion of the building. Gardco produces the majority of its products today at the San Leandro facility. A portion of the product line, together with the Emco brand products, is currently being produced at an existing plant in San Marcos.
Gardco will locate its division headquarters to the same new facility and will begin fully operating from San Marcos by the end of 2005. Gardco’s sister division, Wide-Lite, will also move its division headquarters to the new San Marcos facility concurrent with the transfer of its San Marcos production for Wide-Lite and Gardco/Emco to the new facility.
