Jeff Schaper has been named president of GE Supply, Shelton, Conn. He succeeds Bill Meddaugh, who is retiring after 37 years with the company.

For the past 15 months, Schaper served as chief commercial officer for GE worldwide. In that role, he launched the Commercial Leadership Program, championed cross-company sales force effectiveness tools among all GE businesses, and realigned its vertical market "Boundaryless Selling" efforts. Schaper also led GE's company-wide global commercial leadership initiatives.

According to GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt, "Jeff has been instrumental in helping GE become a more customer-focused company. His passion for the customer and contributions to the commercial organization are critical to our efforts."

Schaper joined GE in 1973. Over the next 14 years, he held increasingly more responsible sales and marketing positions. Schaper was named general manager of services marketing for GE Medical Systems in 1987, advancing to lead its European Service Operation based in Paris. In 1995, he became general ,anager and, later, vice president of sales for GE Industrial Systems.
