Mayer Electric Supply Moves Into Pennsylvania with Acquisition of The Hite Co.

Mayer Electric Supply, Birmingham, AL, a powerhouse of electrical distribution in the Southeast, is expanding north into Pennsylvania, West Virginia and western New York with an agreement to acquire The Hite Co., a long-time independent electrical distributor based in Altoona, PA.

In a letter to supplier partners signed jointly by Hite Co. President and CEO T. Scott Lawhead and Mayer Electric Supply President Wes Smith, the companies pointed to the belief that a larger geographic presence and additional resources will be needed to compete in the future.

Effective March 26, Hite will become the Northeast Region of Mayer Electric Supply and will operate as The Hite Company, a Division of Mayer Electric. The letter said Hite will operate essentially unchanged with purchasing and payables remaining in Altoona.
