Eaton Bulks Up Product Offering for Data Centers and C/I Market with PDI Purchase

PDI has operating facilities in Virginia and California and employs approximately 450 people.

Eaton Corp. has acquired Power Distribution Inc. (PDI), Richmond, VA, a supplier of mission-critical power distribution, static switching, and power monitoring equipment and services for data centers and industrial and commercial customers. The company had 2019 sales of $125 million.

According to information on the PDI web-site, “PDI has operating facilities in Virginia and California and employs approximately 450 people. The company goes to market under the PDI brand for data center equipment and services, and ONYX for Magnetics to the industrial market.”

Brian Brickhouse, president, Electrical Sector, Americas region, Eaton, said in the press release, “PDI’s portfolio is highly complementary to our current offering and will allow us to better serve our data center customers. We have watched the growth of PDI for the last decade and are excited to have them become part of Eaton.”

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the first quarter of this year. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
