LED A-Line Lamp Shipments Decrease in Second Quarter

LED A-line lamp shipments posted a 21.2% decrease in the second quarter of 2016 compared to the first quarter, but still continue year-over-year growth, growing 40.6 %. Halogen A-line lamps shipments showed virtually no year-over-year growth at 0.2 percent but saw a 14.5% increase this quarter compared to last. Incandescent A-line lamps posted both an 8.8% year-over-year increase and a 44.8% quarter-over-quarter increase. Compact fluorescent lamp shipments dropped 55.3% compared to last year and 16.3% compared to last quarter.

In terms of market share, LED A-line lamps comprised 20.7% of the consumer lamp market in the second quarter. Halogen A-line lamps accounted for half of all consumer lamp shipments at 50.7%, CFLs captured a 15.9% share, and incandescent A-lines held 12.7%. Incandescent A-line lamps largely consist of 15W and 25W incandescent lamps.
