AD-IMARK Finalize Merger
Dakota Supply Group (DSG), Fargo, N.D., a major player in the Upper Midwest’s electrical, utility, automation, plumbing/HVAC and waterworks markets, has made another move to extend its business outside of the electrical market with its purchase of Woodruff Co., a distributor of plumbing and HVAC products based in Rochester, Minn.
Woodruff, which also has locations in Austin and Winona, Minn., will now be called DSG, but it will retain its staff, and virtually all other proceedings will be “business as usual” for customers and manufacturers, says DSG. This new partnership will further develop DSG’s service area in southern Minnesota, eastern Wisconsin and Iowa. Woodruff will add nearly 20 employee owners and more than 60 years of experience to the DSG brand.
DSG, which was ranked #25 on Electrical Wholesaling’s 2012 Top 200 listing with $297 million in sales, has grown over the years with a mix of acquisitions and branch start-ups or expansion inside and outside of the electrical market. Since 2009, the company has moved into new facilities in Bismarck (waterworks), Dickinson and Williston, N.D.; Mitchell and Rapid City, S.D.; acquired W.A. Roosevelt, a Wisconsin-based HVAC/plumbing distributor (2012); and expanded into Montana with the purchase of MDM Supply, a distributor of plumbing, HVAC and industrial PVF (pipe, valves, fittings) supplies. Its other acquisitions include Plainsco (1999); John Iverson Co. (2001): Barber Electric (2003); R&M Supply (2005); Wedum Supply (2006); and Hydro Metering Technology (2007).
