Electrical People: May 9, 2014 - Miller retires at Border States and Crawford picked to lead AD Electrical

MaxLite (West Caldwell, N.J.): This lighting manufacturer has appointed Donille Perrone as director of marketing, reporting directly to Thomas Rhee, executive V.P. Perrone brings over 15 years of marketing experience with a strong lighting background. In her new position, Perrone will continue to build the MaxLED by MaxLite brand presence in a broad range of market segments while identifying new opportunities. She will lead a team of marketing professionals and oversee all marketing initiatives including advertising, interactive/digital marketing, research, trade shows, corporate communications and product library management.

Prior to joining MaxLite, Perrone was senior marketing manager at Bel-Art Product; director of marketing and talent management at Bulbrite Industries;  director of marketing at Niagara Conservation; and director of marketing at Aetrex Worldwide. She has an MBA in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Universal Lighting Technologies (Nashville, Tenn.): Benjamin Koelbl has joined Universal’s OEM sales team as field applications engineer for the Western region of the United States. With a bachelor of science in electrical engineering (BSEE) from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, Koelbl joins Universal with six years of experience in field applications engineering. His most recent position was lighting field applications engineer for a major electronic component distributor. Prior to that, he worked for a telecom equipment manufacturer for eight years as both a sales engineer and a hardware and software design engineer. In his new role with Universal, Koelbl will act as the field technical resource contact, supporting Solid State Lighting (LED) systems and products. He is based in Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Border States Electric (Fargo, N.D.): Gary Miller, the company’s president since 2006, retired last month, effective Apr. 1. He remains on the company’s Board of Directors. Miller was hired in 1979 for a position in BSE’s accounting department. He went on to serve in a variety of positions at the branch and corporate levels, and was named to BSE’s executive council in 1997 before joining the board of directors in 2005. In Jan. 2006, he was named president. During his time as president, the company grew from a $450 million company to a $1.4 billion company.

Metro Wire and Cable Corp. (Atlanta): The company has hired Mark McCormick as a sales consultant in Lawrenceville, Ga. With over 25 years of  wire and cable industry knowledge, McCormick will work with customers in and around the Southeast portion of the United States, including but not limited to Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee. Based on his previous experiences, McCormick will be primarily focused on the following client segments: industrial, electrical contractors, fire and security companies, utility, OEMs and other customer bases. 

Robroy Industries Conduit Division (Gilmer, Texas): This manufacturer of ETL-verified PVC-coated galvanized rigid conduit (Plasti-Bond, Perma-Cote and KorKap), recently announced that Shawn Shoulders has joined the company as quotation specialist. He has a MBA with a concentration in quality management from the University of Texas-Tyler, and a bachelor’s of science degree in materials science and engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.

Fulham Co. Inc. (Hawthorne, Calif.):  Mike Bauer, a 26-year-veteran of the lighting industry, is now V.P. of global sales. Bauer comes to Fulham from Cree, where he was global V.P. of lighting sales. Prior to this, he was president/CEO of Nexxus; president of Lighting Decisions Group; V.P. of sales for Lighting Corp. of America (now Hubbell Lighting); V.P. of sales with Cooper; and a national sales manager at GE.

Affiliated Distributors (AD) (Wayne, Pa.): Ed Crawford has accepted the position of president U.S. Electrical and International Development, effective May 5. He comes to AD from Philips Lighting North America where he held the position of senior V.P. and general manager of Professional Lighting and was formerly president and CEO, Philips Light Sources and Electronics North America, responsible for all Philips Lamp and Ballast activities in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Crawford began his Philips career in 1988 and held many senior executive posts with global sales and marketing responsibilities for the company. He is a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in aeronautical science and holds an MBA in marketing and international business from New York University.
